Baxter Springs is located at the junction of Kansas Highway 69A (Historic Route 66) and 166 one mile from the Oklahoma State Line and seven miles from the Missouri State Line and Interstate 44.

The City of Baxter Springs maintains a five-member board that is responsible for follow-up on all new business leads considering relocation to the area, new local businesses or expansion of an existing business.

In addition to this local board, the Kansas Department of Commerce meets with prospective clients explaining the various programs available from the state of Kansas.
