Riverside Park on Spring River
Riverside Park is located at the east edge of Baxter Springs on Spring River on the south side of Highway 166. Facilities include fishing, boat ramp, camping, electrical hook-ups, shelter houses, tables, grills, and rest rooms.
During the spring the fishing in the park is very good when the white bass start coming up the river to spawn. You can always tell when the white bass are running because the park is full of fishermen. In this part of Spring River we have black bass, crappie, perch, bluegill, walleye, catfish, alligator gar, and carp. There is a boat ramp located on both side of the dam for fishing the shallow waters with the gravel bars or the deeper waters above.
The RV camping with utility hook-ups is $10.00 a day and primitive tent camping is $5.00. Please watch for the signs in the park as there is no tent camping allowed in the Rv section. Campers need to contact the Baxter Springs Police Department for a permit to camp. Any stay over three nights has to be approved by the Chief of Police.
