How to Establish New Water & Sewer Service
Complete an application in person at City Hall, located at 1445 Military Avenue. You will need to provide a valid picture ID (Drivers License, State Issued ID, Passport, Military ID). We accept Cash, Check, Money Orders, or Credit Card (MasterCard or Visa).
There is a non refundable service fee which is due at the time you sign up for service, the fee for residential is $50.00 and the fee for small commercial is $100.00.
The City has contracted with Waste Corp of Joplin for all residential trash pickup in the city. City hall will be able to tell you what your pick up day will be when you apply for service. A poly cart will be provided if there is not one currently at the residence. The rates for trash are $11.64 per month. A second poly cart can be obtained for an additional $5.00 per month. The senior citizen rate for trash is $10.30 (60 and older).
You may contact Waste Corp of Joplin at 800-747-7701 with any questions you may have concerning prohibited items or if your trash was not picked up on its regularly scheduled day. Waste Corp asks that all poly carts be placed out by the street the night before, trash pickups begin at 6:00am.
Waste Corp's holidays are: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. There will be no trash pickup on these days. If the actual holiday falls between Monday and Friday, the day of the holiday and those remaining in the week will be one day behind except Wednesday, which is a catch up day. If the holiday falls on the weekend, service will run on schedule the next week.
The city operates a brush collection site on West 12th street for the residents of Baxter Springs. The site is provided as a free service to the residents of Baxter Springs, you may be asked to provide proof of residency when you bring items to be dropped off. The site will accept brush, limbs, branches as well as metal items. The brush site hours are:

Saturday 8:00am till 4:00pm
You may take your newspapers, card board boxes and magazines to the Lions Club Building at 14th and Park. Their collection bins are located off the alley behind the building across from Baxter State Bank.
